Customs, VAT & Import Duties Policy
1. SCOPE
This policy explains how VAT, customs procedures and import charges may apply to orders delivered to customers in the European Union.
The treatment of an order depends on factors including the destination country, the place from which the goods are dispatched, the intrinsic value and nature of the goods, and the VAT/customs arrangement used for the transaction.
2. VAT
VAT may be included in the price shown to you or collected at checkout where required by the applicable VAT rules.
For eligible cross-border imports into the EU, businesses may use the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) system to declare and remit VAT for qualifying consignments. Where IOSS or another applicable mechanism is used, the relevant VAT treatment will be reflected in the checkout and order documentation as required.
Monelle will apply the VAT treatment required for the transaction based on the applicable rules and its fulfilment and tax arrangements.
3. CUSTOMS AND IMPORT PROCEDURES
Orders shipped from outside the EU may be subject to customs clearance or other import procedures in the destination country.
Customs authorities and carriers may request information or documentation necessary to process an import. Customs processing is outside Monelle's direct control and can affect delivery times.
Customers should not be asked to pay charges that are already included in the transaction price or have otherwise been collected by Monelle where the applicable arrangement requires Monelle to account for them. If a carrier or customs authority requests an additional payment, please contact us before paying whenever reasonably possible so that we can review the request.
4. IMPORT DUTIES AND OTHER CHARGES
Any customs duties, import charges or other amounts legally payable in connection with an order will depend on the applicable rules and the fulfilment model used for that shipment.
Where such amounts are the customer's responsibility, Monelle will provide the information required before purchase where applicable. We do not represent that every European destination will have identical customs treatment.
Tax and customs rules can change. The treatment applicable to your specific order is determined by the rules in force at the relevant time.
5. ORDERS TO NON-EU EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
European countries outside the EU may apply different VAT, customs and import rules. Where Monelle offers delivery to a non-EU destination, the applicable information will be provided at checkout or in the relevant delivery information.
The fact that a country is geographically located in Europe does not mean that EU VAT or customs rules automatically apply to it.
6. CUSTOMS DELAYS
Customs inspections, documentation requests and other border procedures may delay delivery.
Such delays are outside Monelle's reasonable control. However, mandatory consumer rights relating to delivery, cancellation, refunds and defective or non-conforming goods remain unaffected.
7. CONTACT
If you receive a customs or import notification that you believe is incorrectly related to your order, please contact us via the support page, providing the order number and the carrier or customs reference number.
8. IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTE
This policy provides general information and does not override mandatory tax, customs or consumer-protection rules applicable in the destination country. Where local law provides stronger consumer protection, those mandatory rights will apply.
